About Daniel

Daniel DeWispelare (1983-2024), a cherished English professor at George Washington University, taught classes in British romanticism, literary and critical theory and the history of the English language and authored Multilingual Subjects: On Standard English, Its Speakers, and Others in the Long Eighteenth Century.

Compassionate, brilliant and endlessly curious, Daniel was an indispensable part of the community: a globetrotter with endless stories to tell, learned, funny and kind with our students.
