Emily Lathrop

Emily Lathrop is a PhD candidate in the Department of English at The George Washington University. Her work broadly deals with transmissions of Shakespeare (both early modern and modern) across digital, textual, theatrical, and educational spheres. Her current work is concerned with how modern Shakespeare theatres construct and enact audience engagement practices. 

Emily has a Bachelor's degree in English (with minors in religious studies and classics) from the University of Iowa and a Master's degree in early modern literature from King's College London. She has held an internship at Lambeth Palace Library, has participated in seminars at The Folger Institute, and is a member of Actors' Equity. She has been published in The Rambling, Cahiers Élisabéthains, the Renaissance volume of Bloomsbury’s A Cultural History of Disability series. She has forthcoming work in Shakespeare Bulletin and in Routledge's Shakespeare’s Audiences.
