Hale Lam is an English PhD candidate at The George Washington University. They are interested in how Asian American writers make sense of the long Cold War and their fraught relationship to the United States. Their research examines bodily surfaces as sites where Asian Americans negotiate feelings of distrust and disgust. They also explore the ways queerness and disability shape model minority discourses and articulations of yellow peril inscrutability. They have an M.A. in Liberal Studies from the CUNY Graduate Center where they studied English literature and fashion.
